The village Vassilikos is in the southern side of Zakynthos. It is a wide village with ca.14 km length. Vassilikos does not offer a uniform large local centre, for it however many small local parts, like e.g. pc.San Nicolas, Gerakas, Porto-Roma. The village is characterised by its green environment, the numerous olive groves and shady Pine forests. In Vassilikos you find also the second highest mountain of the island.

 The name derived from the ancient author family Roma which lived in this part of the island. Porto Roma is also the name of one of the oldest taverns of the island, situated directly in a small bay at the ocean. As a time passed by the small part of the coast developed into the village Porto Roma ( which politically still belongs to Vasilikos). Porto Roma is situated in between a large number of olive trees and wonderful sandy beaches.

Because of its idyllic location it is not touched by the mass tourism. You’ll find here what is called quality XXX holidays.

If you are looking for individual holidays with contact the Greek culture you’ll find it in Porto Roma. The village offers small and familiar apartment grounds (Apartmentanlagen) and breakfast bars, two super-markets with bike and car rental. Due to some traditional taverns you do not have to worry about culinary comfort.
